I've never played simultaneous-play games before... please explain?
I’ve taken the classic 3 phase turn structure we know and love (player does X, then Y, then Z before passing dice) and designed a way for all chefs to take part at the same time.
These three phases are “Roll to Prep”, “Plate orders in line”, and “Upgrade your Food Truck” then pass dice.
The first two phases apply to all players while the upgrading phase applies only to the chef(s) who rolled the dice. This allows them to maintain some control of flow while giving all chefs a LOT to do each turn.

Will there be a solo mode?
Short answer, yes.
Long answer, I’m working with experts to craft a solo mode that people will actually want to play. I don’t yet have a timeline but I anticipate completing in fall 2025. If the Solo mode stretch goal is unlocked it will ship with every copy of Food Truck Race.

Will there be a Junior version?
I feel confident that Pop-Up is a very good Junior version of the game for ages 10-13.
I remain convinced that this game really is for 13 and up and will continue to work with backers on the projects they care about most in the coming months.

I've never played a game where I can spend my victory points, explain?
The game board includes a point tracker that represents the chef’s earnings. Chefs can spend those earnings on upgrades and groceries throughout the game (on their turn). This means that chefs will travel forward and backward around the board in a slingshot motion, spending money to create better opportunities to make money.

How does the Special Sauce design process work?
Backing at the Special Sauce level means I’ll contact you after Kickstarter funds are collected. We’ll discuss your custom truck via email—covering truck name, primary and secondary color selection, theme, and inspirations. Mario and I will work to get your design finished by mid-July in order to be included in manufacturing.
To avoid production delays, it is your responsibility to respond in a timely manner to emails related to the creation of your truck. I will share a timeline with you, and reminder messages, however, if I don’t hear back from you I may have to proceed and make a decision about whether or not your truck will be included in the game. This is something I hope to avoid with your help.
Custom designs must respect copyright laws and align with Food Truck Race’s spirit, ethos and aesthetic. I retain all rights to the artwork, text, and mechanics, with the freedom to use them for any purpose.
Gregory & Mario reserve the right to refuse any themes or names while creating your custom food truck logos & menus. Let’s all play nice and have fun!

Will Food Truck Race be translated?
Short answer, yes.
Long answer, Gregory is actively working with translators for German, French, Italian and Spanish. These versions of the manual will be published and distributed electronically before game fulfillment.

What proof do I need to provide to make a retail deposit?
Nothing absurd, just a business name, your name and city, and business email address. We want to confirm that 1) you’re buying with intent to resell and 2) your retail store is in a country we can ship to.

Can I upgrade my pledge?
Yes! As long as you back at Dinner for Four or higher, you will get access to the pledge manager after the campaign. There you can modify your pledge and add items.
The Special Sauce pledge is the exception. This is ONLY AVAILABLE during the campaign.

How are you handling tariffs for US backers?
Food Truck Race is priced to be US tariff inclusive at current rate of 145%.
We are keeping a close eye on the situation and will be updating backers as trade laws change and as we get closer to fulfillment in late 2025/early 2026.

What is a pledge manager?
The pledge manager survey allows you to provide your shipping address and finalize your order. During the Kickstarter campaign you can choose your pledge level and provide payment for that level. Once the campaign ends, those funds will be transferred to the pledge manager (we use BackerKit) where you will be able to select add-on items, add additional copies of the game and complete your order with shipping and any applicable local taxes (e.g. VAT for EU).

Is shipping included in my pledge?
Shipping is not included in the pledge reward price. Estimates of the shipping charges are provided on the campaign page under the “Estimated Shipping” section. Final shipping charges will be applied in the Pledge Manager when your order is finalized.
We are constantly negotiating for the best shipping rates - it is our sincere hope to shave that cost down for backers even further by the time we ship.

Will I be charged taxes?
Applicable taxes will be charged during checkout in the Pledge Manager and are not included in the pledge cost. This includes VAT for the UK and EU, GST for Canada and sales tax for California.

What are the refund policies?
While the pledge manager is open, backers may contact us ([email protected]) to arrange for a refund minus platform fees. Once the Pledge Manager is closed we are not able to process refunds.

When will Food Truck Race be available for retail?
Retail backers of the campaign will receive their pledges at the same time as non-retail backers. We’re a small operation, so if you’re hoping to get FTR on your shelves in 2026, now is the time to act and place your deposit!

Why isn't my country listed on the shipping chart?
We’ve worked with our fulfillment partners to come up with rates for many countries, but there are some we cannot ship to (e.g. Russia, Ukraine, Brazil). For other countries the rates are high for the size of package and volume we would be sending. In these cases we would suggest looking at a package forwarder who could receive your pledge in China, the UK or USA and forward it on to you.
We don’t endorse any particular service, but examples are Stackry and Tiptrans.

Can I edit my pledge?
Yes, you will be able to edit your pledge in Backerkit until it’s fully paid. After that point, you can still add items to your pledge until the pledge manager closes. You’ll also be able to change your shipping address until the fulfillment process begins.

How do I get my Executive Chef reward? ($1 deposit)
If you placed a $1 deposit before May 6 and back the campaign at $45 or $69 tiers, you will automatically have Picnic Tables & Portapotties mini-expansion added to your order and will be reflected in the pledge manager. If you back the $99 or $249 tiers, Gregory will automatically place a $10 credit in your pledge manager that can be applied to shipping costs.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
